TLDR: Serpfox Review
SerpFox is great. It lets you track your keyword performance in Google search very quickly and easily. This is due to its simple and easy to use interface that you could honestly learn in a day. It’s also extremely affordable, especially for small businesses or freelancers.
Automate your keyword rank tracking for SEO
Serpfox is a rank tracker that allows you to track your rank on Google search (or other search engines). You use it to track how high your web pages rank for certain keywords. The great thing about this tool is how basic it is. It’s extremely easy to use and you can learn all of its features in a day.
Why use a rank tracker for SEO?
Climbing up the google ranks can be a long process. Progress will be so slow that you won’t recognise how much your rankings have improved months down the line. By tracking your results over months you’ll be able to figure out if your SEO strategy is working. It’s best to use a tool to automatically track your SEO over time - doing this manually for many web pages is time consuming and flawed. Search engines use cookies and your location to give the best results relevant to you. So if you do manual tracking, your results will be biassed.
Serpfox Features
Serpfox offers a few features - but it’s still more than most people need.
Daily tracking - twice a day
Other tools I’ve used only track once a week and then charge you extra to track daily. In my experience, SerpFox tracks your results twice a day. This is extremely useful as Google rankings can fluctuate a lot. Tracking your results everyday shows you what range you rank over. Serpfox even gives you an estimate of search volume.
Ranking History - Presented as a line graph
SerpFox automatically plots your ranking history as a line graph over time. This paints a story of how your rankings have changed over time and lets you determine if your strategy is working or not. Surprisingly, there are other tracking tools that do not let you view your results over time in a simple line chart.
Simulate Localised Searches
Google uses your location to give you search results that match where you are. For example, if you search for "pizza near me," it shows nearby pizza places. SerpFox lets you simulate searches from different places, like countries, towns, or cities. So, if you own a plumbing business in Croydon, you can check if your site actually ranks in Croydon.
Export your tracking data in CSV format
If you want more detailed analysis beyond SerpFox’s basic line graph, you’re in luck! SerpFox allows you to export your tracking data so you can work with it in Excel. I use this to calculate rolling averages of my rankings, which helps me understand the overall trends in my results.
Pros
Reading Web Agency has been using SerpFox for about 3 months. Here’s what I love about it:
- Simple to use. The interface is very intuitive and you can get all the data you need within 2 minutes.
- Affordable. SerpFox has a generous free plan. You can track 10 keywords for free. You can track 100 keywords for $12/month (£9.18). This is far more affordable than other alternatives.
- All data is exportable. You can download all your data as a CSV and view it how you like.
Cons
I love SerpFox, but here’s what they could improve:
- The line graph is a bit basic. It would be nice to see rolling averages without needing to download your data.
- As far as I can tell, SerpFox only tracks your organic rankings. If you want to track your performance in the Maps pack, you will need to buy another tool.
